Step-by-Step Guide to Cleaning a Burnt Pan:
Gather Your Supplies:
Baking soda
White vinegar
Water
Dish soap
A sponge or scrubber
A wooden spoon or spatula (optional)
Add Water to the Pan:
Place the burnt pan on the stovetop.
Add enough water to cover the burnt areas at the bottom of the pan.
Pour in Vinegar:
Add about 1/2 to 1 cup of white vinegar to the water in the pan.
The vinegar helps loosen burnt food and stains due to its acidity.
Bring the Mixture to a Boil:
Turn on the heat and bring the water and vinegar mixture to a boil.
Let it boil for a few minutes to help break down the burnt residue.
Remove from Heat and Add Baking Soda:
After boiling, carefully remove the pan from the heat.
Add about 2 tablespoons of baking soda to the mixture. It will fizz and bubble, helping to lift the burnt bits.
Let it sit for a couple of minutes.
Scrub the Pan:
Once the fizzing stops, use a sponge or scrubber to scrub away the burnt residue.
For stubborn areas, use a wooden spoon or spatula to gently scrape off the remaining burnt bits.
Rinse the Pan:
After scrubbing, pour out the mixture and rinse the pan with clean water.
If any burnt spots remain, repeat the process or scrub them with dish soap and a sponge.
Final Wash:
Wash the pan with dish soap to remove any lingering residue and vinegar smell.
Rinse and dry the pan thoroughly.
Tips:
For really tough burnt areas, you can sprinkle extra baking soda directly onto the burnt spots before scrubbing.
Avoid using steel wool or harsh scrubbers on non-stick or delicate pans to prevent damage.
