How to Make French Toast

Step-by-Step Guide to Making French Toast:

1. Gather Your Supplies:

  • 2-4 slices of bread (thicker bread like brioche or challah works best)

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 cup milk (or cream for richer toast)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)

  • Butter or oil (for frying)

  • Syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit (for serving)

2. Prepare the Egg Mixture:

  • In a medium-sized bowl, crack 2 eggs and whisk them until smooth.

  • Add 1/2 cup of milk to the eggs and whisk together.

  • Optional: Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract and 1 tsp of cinnamon to the mixture for added flavor. Whisk until everything is fully combined.

3. Heat the Pan:

  • Place a non-stick skillet or frying pan on the stove over medium heat.

  • Add a small amount of butter or oil to the pan and let it melt. This will prevent the toast from sticking and give it a golden-brown color.

4. Dip the Bread in the Egg Mixture:

  • Take one slice of bread and dip it into the egg mixture. Make sure to coat both sides of the bread evenly but avoid soaking it too long, as it can become too soggy.

5. Cook the Bread:

  • Place the dipped bread slice into the heated pan.

  • Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through. Flip the bread with a spatula to ensure even cooking on both sides.

6. Repeat with Remaining Slices:

  • Repeat the dipping and cooking process with the remaining slices of bread, adding more butter or oil to the pan if necessary.

7. Serve the French Toast:

  • Once all slices are cooked, transfer them to a plate.

  • Top your French toast with syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit, depending on your preference.

8. Enjoy!

  • Serve immediately while warm and enjoy your delicious French toast!

Tips:

  • Thicker Bread: Use thick-sliced bread like brioche, challah, or French bread for the best texture and flavor.

  • Adjust Sweetness: If you prefer sweeter French toast, you can add a little sugar to the egg mixture or serve with extra syrup and toppings.

  • Add a Pinch of Salt: A small pinch of salt in the egg mixture can enhance the overall flavor of the French toast.
